SUMMARY

Please tell me how masks work against airborne viruses.

All viruses that are 2.5 μm and below are airborne viruses. The masks people are using have holes that are 40 μm to 500 μm. The Hole in this image of a commonly used cloth mask averages about 200 μm. 97% of your sneezes are airborne with particles less than 2.5 μm. Just talking for 5 minutes produces produces about 3,000 droplet nuclei. Just breathing releases viral nuclei.

So, instead of inhaling 600 viral particles from the sicko next to you, because you’re both wearing masks, you only inhale 200 viral particles. Do you still get sick? Hell YEAH!

Human serum albumin (HSA) microspheres have been produced in the size range of 200 nm to 10 microns by the controlled addition of acetone to an aqueous solution of HSA, followed by stabilization of the formed microspheres at an elevated temperature.

  • Sars COVID 2 is .06 to .14 μm or 0.00000236″ to 0.00000551″
  • Droplets and droplet nuclei from sneezes have been measured at 0.00000394″ to 0.03543307″.
  • N95 masks only filter 0.00011811″ and greater. (3 μm )
  • 0.0005 is pronounced 50 millionths. So CV2 is 551 billionths of an inch at best and 236 billionths of an inch at a minimum.

… sneezing may produce as many as 40,000 droplets between 0.5–12 μm in diameter (Cole & Cook, 1998; Tang et al., 2006) that may be expelled at speeds up to 100 m/s (Wells, 1955; Cole & Cook, 1998), whereas coughing may produce up to 3,000 droplet nuclei, about the same number as talking for five minutes (Cole & Cook, 1998; Fitzgerald & Haas, 2005; Tang et al., 2006).

THE PROBLEM

Voluntary coughs generated droplets ranging from 0.1 – 900 microns in size. Droplets of less than one-micron size represent 97% of the total number of measured droplets contained in the cough aerosol. Age, sex, weight, height and corporal mass have no statistically significant effect on the aerosol composition in terms of size and number of droplets.

Droplets less than 2.5 microns dry quickly, remain airborne, and reach deep into the lungs when inhaled.
